Reading Narrative

I and reading have a love/hate relationship. Starting off in elementary school we

use to get treats for reading books in front of the class. Of course I use to rush to the front because the treats were so delicious. The books weren’t so big in k-2 though so it was more of a hobby for me to do so. I remember when they stopped giving us treats in the 3rd grade, that’s when I stopped reading so much. I didn’t quite understand at the time but I do now.

I picked back up my love for reading in the 5th grade when they started the Book-it Program. They would give students coupons for free pizzas from Pizza Hut for getting a certain amount of points from reading books. I began reading all of the Laura Ingalls Wilder books. I read her whole collection of books; they really captured my attention with the way her words painted a scene in my mind.

With me I take a certain liking to specific books. Like I stated earlier I read all of the Laura Ingalls Wilder books because they were highly in-depth. I also have read all the Harry Potter books over and over again. I’m not the type of person to pick up every book and read it but if something grabs my attention through the 1st few chapters then it’s a WINNER!!!
